One of our biggest questions is what do I need to haul my fish home in? The best thing you can bring to haul fish in are 5-gallon buckets. We put our bag in the bucket then fill with water and fish, inflate the bag with oxygen and seal it. Buckets are by far the easiest to handle and load. If you don't have enough for your order we do offer them for sale for $2.50 each. Muck tubs, large plastic storage boxes and large coolers also work as well. Please note 5-gallon buckets are REQUIRED for all Channel Catfish orders to prevent them from popping the bag on the way home.
You safely haul approximately 1/2 acres worth of fish in one trip. Depending on package chosen it will be anywhere from 8 to 12 bags/buckets of fish. Depending upon fish size and also outdoor temprature, a full bag will contain the following:
Bluegill - 100 fish
Redear - 150 fish
Large Mouth Bass - 100 fish
Black Crappie - 100 fish
Fathead Minnows - 5lbs.
6"-8" Channel Catfish - 25 - 30 fish 5-gallon Bucket Required
8"-10" Channel Catfish - 20-25 fish 5-gallon Bucket Required
Once we oxygenate and seal your first bag the time clock starts ticking. The only stops you should make on the way home should be the drive through for food or stop at the filling station for gas. When kept in the shade and cool, fish can survive in the bag up to 3 hours. However, exposure to sunlight and high temperatures will reduce the time they can safely spend in the bag. Always keep fish out of direct sunlight and transport them to the body of water without delay. If you can haul them in an enclosed vehicle this is the best, if hauling in the bed of a truck or on a trailer we suggest you also bring along a tarp to cover the buckets since an aired-up bag of fish turns into a fish steamer once it hits the sunlight. If hauling fish during the heat of the summer it is best to pick them up first thing in the morning when we open.
